Beagle Mix**Sundae was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. She will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. She will be crate trained, house trained, learn manners, and she will learn lots of tricks as well! Sundae will be looking for a forever home before she graduates in mid February, so if you are interested in meeting her, please contact us!

Sundae is one of a kind.  She is outgoing, energetic and friendly with everyone.  She’s not at all shy or timid and loves belly rubs and to be by your side.  She does well with cats, other dogs, and kids too.  She is house trained, spayed and fully vetted.  Sundae is about 2 years old and weighs 40lbs. She will bring a lot of love and laughter into your home.

Boo

Boo is such a hound dog! His mother was Labrador Retriever and dad a Redbone Coonhound. Boo came to us with his brother Bones.  They spent most of their lives outside in a pen, but they love everyone they meet and love to be around people. Boo is very friendly and good is with other dogs and kids.  Boo would make a really good family dog.

Bones

**Bones was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. Bones is such a good-looking Hound dog! His mother was Labrador Retriever and dad a Redbone Coonhound. Bones is super friendly and smart too.  He has a very gentle, calm and loving nature and is a little shy but is very sweet.  He loves human attention and is good with other dogs and kids too.  He has been in a pen most of his life, but in spite of that he is still “a happy, easy going dog”.  Bones would make a great family pet. He is currently 1.5 yrs old and 70lbs.

Pablo

Paws in Prison

**Pablo graduated the Paws in Prison Program on December 3rd, where he received 8 weeks of obedience training. He is house trained, crate trained and learned manners as well as some tricks! The following info was provided by the trainer at the prison about Pablo:
-from his handlers: don’t judge on first appearance
-very loyal once trust is built
-small family would be a good possibility
-they say he is one of the smartest dogs ever in the PIP program
-I would add that his training is near perfect, he stays focused on his handlers when asked to do something and does not get distracted easily.  Still has some fear issues so we did not do a “CGC Ready” test with him.  The knowledge of his fear is why I did not test him for that.  Every other test for basics, advanced, tricks, hand signals, and verbal cues were all really good.

Pablo showed up as a stray with his brother, Picasso.  He is sweet as can be and loves to smile at you and he has the softest eyes. He is a little shy when you first meet him, but the more attention he gets, the more comfortable he becomes. Pablo is house trained and walks very well on a leash too.  Smart little cookie, this one!  He is good other dogs but is a little afraid of small children with their fast movements and loud noises.

Pablo is about 10 months old and weighs 50lbs, will be  tops when full grown.

Rufus

Pinscher Mix

**Rufus just graduated the Paws in Prison Program for where he received 8 weeks of obedience training. He was crate trained, learned manners and now knows lots of tricks. Rufus also passed his Canine Good Citizen test with flying colors!

Rufus is one happy and well behaved pup.  He was adopted from us as a puppy and returned because he killed their chickens, so no chickens for him!  Otherwise, he loves everything and everybody.  He is good with kids and very good with other dogs.  He is smart as a whip too.  He will sit upon command and is housetrained.  He also loves booty scratches and affection. Rufus would make a great family pet or companion for any dog lover. He is full grown at 45lbs and is a year old old.

Luke

Luke came to us with his sister, London.  They were surrendered because their owner had too many dogs.  He looks like a Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd Mix to us.  He is a very active and playful dog and needs a place to run and play with people who will give him lots of attention.  He loves human interaction. He does not like cats but is good with most other dogs. He is a little afraid of small children with all of their fast movements and loud noises, but older kids/calmer kids would be ok.  Luke is eager to please and just wants a person to love on him and be with him all the time.  He will make a great companion dog for someone or a family.  He is just now a year old and weighs 45lbs.

**Luke was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. He is now crate trained, has manners, and knows  a lot tricks as well!

**Update from the PIP trainer: Luke has demonstrated basics and more advanced training besides 20+ tricks. His handlers say that he is “well mannered, a love bug, and a dog that loves attention.”

Dewey

Dewey, Upon Arrival at SCHS

 

**Dewey just graduated the Paws in Prison Program where he received 8 weeks of obedience training. He is now crate trained, has manners, and he knows some tricks as well!

Despite his struggles upon arrival (see below), Dewey is the BIGGEST SWEETHEART. He loves affection and just wants to be held and cuddled. He gives us hugs and lays in our laps, even though he is a large dog.  Dewey also enjoys playing with other dogs and going for walks. He is house trained, neutered, up to date on shots and ready to find his new family!

Dewey was found starving and rummaging through trash at a campground in the National Forest. He only weighed 32 pounds and had a severe infection that we treated with antibiotics. He was also heart worm positive and completed his treatment for that once he was at a healthy weight.  Dewey is now a healthy 60 pounds and his blood work shows no signs of infection!
