Spirit is fun little lady. She was in a backyard pen her whole life with little interaction with people, but she loves people and gets so happy to see them. She will greet you with so much excitement that you can’t help but laugh. Spirit is high energy and ready for adventure. She gets along with other dogs and walks great on a leash. She tested positive for heartworms and has just finished her treatment! She will need to be on heartworm preventative the rest of her life, which is an easy thing to do. Spirit needs some training but is very eager to please and very treat motivated. The right home, willing to work with her, will find that Spirit is fun, loving and full of character. She will bring happiness and laughter into your life, if you can handle the high energy and keep up with her. She does best when around people and/or other dogs. She is a little socialite!

Sophie is the cutest little thing with her short legs and nub tail. We think she is a Basset Mix with those short legs. She was surrendered by an elderly couple that couldn’t care for her. She had shown up as a stray. The couple has crate trained and potty trained Sophie. She is a smart and fun little cookie – very playful and loves her toys as well as other dogs. She would be good with kids too. Sophie is 7-8 months old and weighs 27lbs, could get up to 35lbs.
Bella is a wonderful little Beagle pup. She is 6-7 months old and weighs 16 lbs (could get to 25 lbs when full grown). She was surrendered to us by an elderly couple who could no longer care for her. They crate trained and potty trained her – she is very smart! Bella loves other dogs and would be good with kids too. She is full of energy and loves toys as well as affection. She also does well riding in a car. Bella is just a little joy that will bring happiness and love to your life.
Bear is super sweet and full of energy. His owner had to go into a nursing home and could not keep him. He came from a farm but was also kept in a large pen at times. He was never inside until we got him. He is adapting very well though, using the doggie door and only has had a few accidents. Bear is very smart and we only have to show him something once before he catches on. He had never been on a leash or in a harness before- the first attempt was funny to watch, but after that, he was a professional. Bear is good with other dogs, kids, and cats too. He will need some work on house training but seems to be catching on fast. He is very playful and friendly and loves attention. He also likes to play in water and would be a great adventure buddy! We believe Bear is a Border Collie/Aussie mix, 1.5 years old and 50lbs.
We think Gretchen is used to being in a home and for whatever reason she showed up at someone’s house, wanting inside, but no one in the neighborhood knew her. She was already spayed. Gretchen is very friendly with our staff, more fearful of her new environment than anything but still loves our attention. She is very laid back and mostly just lays in her comfy chair, sleeping the days away. We have her down as 8 years old, but I think she might be more like 14. She is litter box trained and does well with other cats. This senior kitty needs a loving home with a comfy spot in the sun where she can spend her golden years being spoiled.
Charlie is such a lovable, sweet dog. He showed up as a stray and was never claimed. He has been outside most of his life but he is crate trained and is used to sleeping in one at night. He is not house trained but seems super smart and would be easily trained – he is very eager to please. He does well with other dogs but likes to chase cats. Charlie loves human attention and loves to give you hugs and follow you around like a shadow. He is playful but not overly so. He makes great eye contact, looking for the next treat or a head scratch. Charlie is about a year old and weighs 45 pounds. This sweet little man will make your life complete!
Hunter has the most beautiful green eyes and has a really sweet personality. He came to us with his sister Harlow, both showed up as strays after birth. He has primarily been outside but has done well with coming into our shelter. He is neutered, litter box trained and on the calmer side. He hasn’t been around many other cats but would probably adapt well. He loves a soft spot to curl up on, maybe your lap? Hunter is currently 8 months old (as of 2/15/25).
**Nova was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. She will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. She will be crate trained, house trained, learn manners, and she will learn lots of tricks as well! Nova will be looking for a forever home before she graduates in late April, so if you are interested in meeting her, please contact us!

Mama is a little chunky sweetheart. She is about 2 lbs overweight, which is a lot for such a small cat. Mama is quiet and calm, very easy going. She gets along well with the other kitties and loves to be petted. She had been mostly outdoors before we got her, so she would do ok being an indoor/outdoor kitty once she gets comfortable in your home. This little ball of love deserves a loving home.
